Regaining the joy of reading

My wonderful parents-in-law bought me a Kindle Paperwhite for my Christmas and since then I have been HOOKED!

I loved reading when I was younger but I have hardly read since University, where I managed to burn myself out reading for my degree (thanks, English Language & Literature!) and reading lost all enjoyment. It no longer felt like an adventure but more like an assessment on words, analysing sentence structures and looking for hidden meanings.

10 years later and I am finally returned to my happy place, you can find me either snuggled up under a blanket on the couch, soaking in a bath, munching on my lunch or bundled up in bed. My nose is in  book and it feels absolutely wonderful once more.

It was extremely handy when I was in Croydon for 5 weeks training, where it legitimately kept me sane. I really had forgotten how much crap is on TV, hence why I rarely watch it. The Kindle store is WAY too easy, when ‘just a look’ to rapidly turn into 20 books on download! That Kindle kept me in a good place whilst I was away from my husband and cats (and most importantly my comfy bed, hotel beds are the worst!)

We fly off on honeymoon to Japan in just over 2 weeks, so I have been making a list for the plane and the inevitable jet lag I know I will suffer!

And I am always looking for recommendations, so please pass some on to me! I love autobiographies, factual, Scottish and world fiction but I want to expand more. Please fire me over your suggestions!

Do you have a GoodReads account? I can be found here, feel free to add me! I need to get my Kindle to talk to my account better, as I am also participating in the 2017 Reading Challenge. I have set myself a target of 20 books in 2017, so far I am into book 2 of 20. I could have been further on, but the return to Scotland from training and having to do work really gets in the way of my book pile…

What books do you like? Let me know and I will check them out 😀
