An evening with my laptop!? Inconceivable!
What I REALLY should be doing is studying for my Japanese mid-term, but I am currently taking a break from the books to catch up a little on life.
So much has happened since my last update! Tomorrow is my final day at my current job – I recently had an interview for another department, which if successful, would result in promotion. And indeed I WAS successful! I start my new role on Monday and if I told you I was not nervous then that would make me a rubbish liar. I am excited but also a little tense – as much as I love my job it really was not leading to anywhere. I was becoming more frustrated in the continual knockbacks within my department and it was getting me down. I will miss my workmates and my team, I have been lucky to work alongside some wonderful people in my two and a half years. Sadly, we lost 2 of them in a matter of months to ill health, and so very suddenly. I consider myself extremely lucky to have had the chance to work with those men and know they are in a good place now.
The new job is something I am very passionate about, but for common sense reasons I will not discuss on social media or my blog, I prefer to mention my work life but that is as much as I will divulge. If you know me personally, you know what I do 🙂
Our wonderful friends Stephen and Liz tied the knot at the end of October and what a beautiful day it was
Speaking of honeymoon, ours is creeping up! We head back to Japan in March of next year and it is exciting to know its all booked and sorted! Sadly the Yen is not performing as well as hoped (thanks Brexit) but we are keeping a beady eye on it day by day.
We waved off Johnny’s parents on their epic South American tour! It is like a dream holiday, but they really deserve it. We won’t see them (well, apart from Skype) again until February 2017!
And now Christmas is looming, the cold weather is definitely here and it is time to prepare for eating and drinking way more than we need to. Its our first Christmas as a married couple, and I am head kitchen bitch his year! I am really looking forward to it, I am preparing to get things in soon so I am not fretting over anything – preparation equals relaxation!
The flat is slowly taking form, but I am missing my hobbies – charity shop hunting and writing letters. I cannot justify indulging in either until the house in in a suitable state, but that is just how my mind works. This weekend I WILL make this house more of a home! Last weekend was an utter blow out thanks to the manky cold I still have clinging onto my immune system. But no more excuses!
